Goals:

  • Work on design on SolidWorks
  • Research issues (Can we charge a phone? How much charge it takes to charge a phone fully? …)
  • First update of wiki page (work on logo for Blazing Energy)

 

Summary of Tasks:

Today we were introduced to SolidWorks by Brad. we learned the basics and a bit more. After Dagoberto and Henrickson worked in SolidWorks on the overall design. We all did a little research on some issues that arose while we were working.

 

Problems that Arose and their Solutions:

Most of the problems that arose were with the design process. Some of those problems were…

 

  • Figuring out how to create a good snap fit for the lights
  • Figuring out a place to put the wires and the female usb port
  • Figuring out the best way to connect the lights to themselves and the charger itself

 

Technologies Used:

  • SolidWorks for 3D design (Computer)

July 7-14-15

Goals:

research and designs the circuit, gather components, design logo, breadboard the circuit, if time continue 3D design 

Summary task:

Today marc going to research and design the circuit for our solar powered charger. henrickson is doing the designing for our logo. we are trying to gather our components and if we have time we will continue 3D design.

problems and solutions:

figuring out what circuit we are using to connect the led to the solar powered charger. Figuring out what components we are going to gather.

July 15,2015

Goals:

  • Our main goal for today is making sure everything works so we can start on building our project as soon as possible
  • Get all the materials and decide what we are going to use 

Summary of Tasks:

Today Marc is going to fix the circuit board and make sure it works. Dagoberto is going to work more on logo .  We will do more research on how our project is going look like. After Marc finishes with the circuit board we will work on it and maybe do more solid work.

Problems that Arose and their Solutions:

Iguring out how our circut is going to work is our main problem and our solution is doing more reserach on how it’s going to work.

 

Technologies Used:

  • Use the computer to do solidwork for 3d design.
  • Maybe use the 3D printer

Working Solar circuit

Goals:

  •  Figure out all the materials we need for our project
  • Do the soldering in the afternoon 

Summary of Tasks:

Today we’re going to decide on what materials we need and start working on our project. We still have to do more research on what out project is going to look like and how small our materials need to be. We will also be soldering the circuit from yesterday onto a soldering breadboard in the afternoon.

Problems that Arose and their Solutions:

A problem that arose was what kind of battery we should use. But after a little bit of researching we realized that we need a rechargeable battery since we want the energy from the solar panel to be stored in the battery. Another issue was that we didn’t realize that we needed a usb circuit board. We were originally going to make the appropriate connections to a female usb charger but we realized since we want to charge different devices that we need the board.

Goals:

  • making our 2nd prototype

Summary of Task:

We are going to work on the conceptual idea of our charger. Here are some pictures of what it will look like.

Problems that Arose:

Now that we have something that looks like our final product, it seems a bit too big. Now we may have to change the board we used for the circuits.

Goals:

  • Start working on the piezo circuit and incorperate that into the prototype

Summary of Tasks:

Today we tried to connect the little SMB lights in a series circuit. 

Problems that Arose:

Since the SMD lights are very small it’s very difficult to make the connections. The last time we tried soldering we broke the connection.

Goals: Today we are going to working on the piazo and how  we’re going to connect the piazo to the leds.

Summary of tasks: today marc is going to try to get the LEDs working and Henrickson will do the soldering to connect the wires is the solar panel. 

Problems that Arose:

Our major problem that arose was soldering the wire to the LED lights because they were so small and we all had to work together so we could get it to work and it did.
